!955 Royal Hospital, For Sick Children, Edinburgh Silver Nurse Badge, RGN and Certified Midwife. A very good group of three badges, awarded to a Scottish Midwife Nurse. Comprising of Registered General Nurse Scotland, unmarked silver badge, engraved to reverse J.R.Oliver A28608 and made by Hamilton & Inches, plus Certified Midwife silver plated badge 5-11-59 and complete with Royal Hospital Edinburgh badge bearing Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1954 and inscribed J.Oliver 1953-1955. All remain in very good condition, original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.
1839 Ascot Racecourse Horse Racing Club Subscribers Silver Badge. An extremely rare and early horse racing pass for the Grand Stand at Ascot. Made of unmarked silver the obverse embossed"Ascot Grand Stand" and with the engraved number 90. The reverse embossed with floral decoration. Small hole to the 12 o'clock position to accommodate ring. Very Good Condition. Dia 36mm On the 16th January 1839 the foundation stone of the new Grand Stand at Ascot was laid, this being between the Royal Stand and the Betting Stand. The new Grandstand would have the capacity to hold some 3,000 spectators and would cost almost £10,000 to build. To raise such funds shares were offered and those subscribing £100 were given a silver pass, this would enable the subscriber to enjoy free entry to the stand for 61 years. However this privilege was revoked in 1870. It is believed that only 100 of these silver passes which were crafted by Garrards were made, of which this is one of them.

1930's Amy Johnson England to Australia, Aeroplane Song Badge. In 1930 Amy Johnson became the first woman to fly solo from Croydon South of London to Darwin Australia, flying her "Jason" Gipsy Moth aeroplane. These badges were sold as commemorative souvenirs, also given away with the song sheet, of the very popular tune at that time "Amy Wonderful Amy". They came in three colours, yellow being the scarcer and were made by Miller, 118 Branston St, B'ham. Remains in good condition, original pin fittings, no chips to the enamel, but with two stress lines between the A and M. Size 27 x 25mm.

A celluloid tin badge issued on the day, to those attending the Rally which was held in Hyde Park London in the early part of 1939 to promote and to recruit to all the different services of the war effort, the central number denoting which part of the parade ground you were designated. Width 54mm. Almeric Paget Massage Corps founded in August 1914. Following the unit’s huge success it was greatly expanded and the title “Military” added by the War Office in December 1915. Height 20mm The Home Guard Auxiliary Units were specially selected members of the Home Guard, who volunteered in the event of a German invasions, to go underground and operate behind enemy lines in a guerrilla war. These men were skilled in the land Gamekeepers, poachers, farmers etc, who received specialist training in small arms, explosives and demolition. These units were numbered 201,202,203. These numbers are incorporated to the front of the badge.
