WW1 London General Omnibus Company, Auxiliary Omnibus Companies' Association 1914, Bus Transport Driver's Officially Numbered Identification Service Badge / Medal.

An extremely rare original First World War period gilt and enamel numbered badge, issued by the London General Omnibus Company. The obverse with the Battle Honours Antwerp, Ypres, Loos, Somme and Amiens, the reverse with the official three digit issue number "281" and maker's details "Fattorini & Sons Bradford". Very good condition, complete with suspension, minor nick to the enamel just below ring, gilt finish remains bright.

In September 1914 the War Office made a desperate plea to the London General Omnibus Company for volunteer drivers and buses to transport troops of the BEF. This initial band of volunteers were drafted into the RND,(Royal Naval Division) so fast was their transition, they still wore their bus company uniforms. In 1915 this group of men were withdrawn back from France and discharged, many re-enlisting straight away.

London Transport Tram & Trolleybus, circa 1962 Bus Driver's or Conductor's Cap Badge by J.R.Gaunt.

A very good example of a scarce original circa 1962 period 'London Transport chromium plated Driver's or Conductor's cap badge' inlaid with dark orangy red enamel, depicting the late feature large dots; the reverse impressed with maker's details in relief "J.R.Gaunt London". Very good condition, retaining original two loop fittings, enamel perfect, minimal service wear, an excellent example.
Height 36mm.

The 'London Transport Tram & Trolleybus' bullseye badge was issued from mid 1934 and remained in use until becoming obsolete with the final demise of London's trolleybuses in May 1962. In the late 1950's the finish was changed from nickel plating to chromium plating.

The 'London Transport Standard cap badge' was issued from 1934 up until the 1987. In the late 1950's the finish was changed from nickel plating to chromium plating.
