WW1 British Red Cross Society 1914-1918 For War Service Medal & Presentation Box.

A good clean full sized unnamed gilt medal, as issued, the obverse with Red Cross within laurel wreath and title surround "British Red Cross Society For War Service: 1914-1918", the reverse with maker's details "J.R.Gaunt London" and Latin motto "Inter Arma Caritas" (In War, Charity). Very good condition, original ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings. Complete with presentation box with coloured details to the front, this is in good condition, but with minor scratch marks.

A scarce Edward VIII souvenir bronze medal, produced for the Coronation in 1937 that never took place. The obverse with Crowned head and shoulder profile and title surround "Edward VIII Crowned 1937". The reverse depicts Westminster Abbey, with the Sovereign's Crown and Sceptre.
Very good condition, complete with original red, white and blue ribbon and bronze suspension bar with pin fittings. An excellent example

WW1 London General Omnibus Company, Auxiliary Omnibus Companies' Association 1914, Kent Bus Transport Driver's Numbered & Named Service Badge / Medal.

An extremely rare original First World War gilt and enamel numbered badge, issued by the London General Omnibus Company. The obverse with the Battle Honours Antwerp, Ypres, Loos, Somme and Amiens, the reverse with the official three digit issue number beginning with "5??" The medal has had an additional pin bar added possibly after the war obscuring part of the number. Inscribed crudely the name and address of the owner "G. Bladon 11 Glanville Rd Bromley". Very good condition, original ring to the top absent, no damage to the enamel, minor service wear.

In September 1914 the War Office made a desperate plea to the London General Omnibus Company for volunteer drivers and buses to transport troops of the BEF. This initial band of volunteers were drafted into the RND,(Royal Naval Division) so fast was their transition, they still wore their bus company uniforms. In 1915 this group of men were withdrawn back from France and discharged, many re-enlisting straight away.
