A scarce original wartime badge from the 'The Beaver Club London'; large circular silver plated example inscribed with title surround, the red enamel centre with applied gilt Maple leaf bearing brown enamel beaver with 1940 below; the reverse impressed with maker's details "JR Gaunt London". Good condition, retaining original pin fitting, hook an old replacement, minor wear to silvered finish, enamel perfect.
'The Beaver Club' was situated in the heart of London in Spring Gardens, S.W.1. crossing The Mall between Admiralty Arch and Trafalgar Square. It was a rest centre for Canadian Soldiers.

The Empire Societies War Hospitality Committee was a non-political organisation, during the war they made arrangement with clubs all over the country to welcome and help officers and men from the dominions, India and the Colonies to find entertainment and hospitality when on leave.

WW2 Church Army Fellowship of War Workers, Voluntary Helper's Home Front Numbered Badge.
A good original Second World War period shield-shaped gilt badge, "Church Army" and a cross to the centre on red enamel ground, "Fellowship of War Workers" title to the edge of the shield in white enamel, the reverse with maker's details "Thomas Fattorini Ltd Regent St Birmingham" and impressed with official issue number "2364". Very good condition, retaining original pin fittings with undamaged enamel.
The Church Army during the second world war provided for the forces over 300 mobile canteens, as well as libraries and entertainment coaches, this badge was worn by members on their uniforms, overalls and civilian clothes by voluntary helpers.

A rare late Second World War period gilt and enamel Canteen British Columbia War Services badge, the reverse with maker's details "Thomas Fattorini Ltd. Regent St. Birmingham". Very good condition, complete with original ribbon and suspension bar with pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.

The British Columbia Services Canteen was based at British Columbia House, Lower Regent Street, London. It opened on December 23 1939 its aim was to make Canadian Servicemen feel at home in England with food and coffee served the Canadian way. The canteen served its last meal on January 14 1946.
