WW1 Royal Navy Submarine Boat scratch-built brass ornament

A well made wartime period brass ornament, scratch-built one-off example skillfully made in the form of a First World War submarine from whatever materials were to hand at the time, raised on brass base complemented to each corner with a steel shrapnel ball.
Length approx 230mm.
Trench art items were made by soldiers, sailors and prisoners of war.
